Transparency of Methodology

BD FactCheck checks the accuracy of information into five processes: selection, research, writing, editing, and Editing after publication.

Selection: We do not fact-check to every person, issue and organization. We only select those issues which have an impact on society. We fact-check political persons, public figures, and organizations’ speeches, comments which are publicly available. BD FactCheck selects items from press releases, news, websites, television talk shows, social networking sites, and public speeches for fact-checking.

Research: We do not publish any report without doing research on the selected issue. If we don’t have evidence against any claim, we don’t publish it. We collect data from primary sources including personal interviews, documents, traditional and legitimate news organizations, government and nongovernment data, observation, etc.

Writing: BD FactCheck gives special attention to the writing process of each fact-check report. We have some Do’s and Don’ts in writing process which include:

  1. We do not personally attack any person, organization or entity through fact-check reports.
  2. We do not give our own opinion on fact-check reports, just present the truth.
  3. We are gender sensitive to choosing words in fact-check reports.
  4. We’re not inclined to any socio-political-religious organizations in our reports.
  5. We follow and maintain the fact-checkers’ code of principles by International Fact-Checking Network.
  6. We provide all sources in enough detail related to fact-checking to it’s audiences.

Editing: We follow a “close observation” method to edit each fact-check report.

Editing after Publication: BD FactCheck has an editing policy after publication. If readers find any inconsistency in our fact-check report, we will edit those even after publication. To report about inconsistencies in our fact-checks, jurt email to bdfactchecks@gmail.com
